We spent 5 nights here and liked the park. As an adults only park, it is quiet! No fighting teenagers; no 4-year-olds clattering around on big wheels. No bikes zipping through your site. The peacefulness is the best part of this place. The marsh is lovely and full of birds. Many of the sites front the marsh, with good views. There are also sitting benches placed throughout the park at good viewing areas for people who might have a non-view site. The cable was excellent and the WiFi worked well. There is only one restroom w/2 showers, which is a little "thin" for the number of sites they have. But, overall, this is a good (but $$$$) place.

This park comprises a huge grassy field covered with back-to-back and side-by-side sites. Privacy is not in evidence here. It is close to the central Amana Colony, with fun shops and good restaurants. Our site was a long walk from the restrooms and the WiFi was barely useable. It was crowded the weekend we were there and the Men's Shower was not clean. We lived in this part of Iowa for 4 years and I know that trees do grow here. Planting a few might help this park some.

This park is very close to downtown Lincoln, which is a plus. The grounds were well kept and the restrooms and showers were clean. It is right on Interstate #80, as well as I-180, so the traffic noise is major. We had difficulty sleeping as a consequence. I doubt we'd stay here again.

We stumbled on this park and liked it, although some of the earlier criticisms are true. On the good side, the grounds are beautiful, with several small lakes and a river. Every thing is clean, manicured, planted and pretty. There are only 12 overnight sites, as others have noted. And ours was so sloped that it was impossible to get the 5'er level. As a consequence, my wife had a tough time sleeping. We were treated with courtesy by staff and seasonal residents. The camp store was pretty good. We'd stay here again.

This park is way over priced for what it has to offer. The only reason we stayed was because our dog needed to be treated by a nearby vet. Everyone is crammed together "KOA-style" in a series of side-by-side sites. There are few trees and the grounds, although clean and neat , are not very inviting. The showers are about the smallest I've ever been in. You hardly can turn around in them. The cable comprises about 25 channels and they ask an extra $4/day for WiFi. There is not good value here.

This park is about the best Rawlins has to offer. It was spotlessly clean, both the grounds and the restrooms, and the staff was helpful and efficient. It does not have a lot of visual appeal, but this is southern Wyoming, where trees are few and far between. There is some traffic noise from the freeway, but it was not unbearable. We would stay here again.

We liked this park, although it is dry camping. It's situated on Yellowstone Lake, which is beautiful. It's also centrally located so you can use it as a base for exploring other parts of Yellowstone. The staff were helpful and friendly. Many of the sites are small, however, and difficult to get into, and at the same time "stay on the pavement." It was cold while we were there. The addition of electricity would be nice so one could stay warm by running the furnace.

We have stayed in this campground several times on our way to/from the south. We find it to be consistent in offering good sites and quality service. It's a lovely, wooded, setting, with sites that provide sufficient privacy. The staff is helpful, competent, and knowledgeable. Access off 495 is fine and (as I said in a review 5 years ago) the restrooms are clean and heated! This is a good place to stay in the vicinity of Boston.

We spent 5 nights here and enjoyed our stay. It was our first attempt at dry camping on this trip and it went pretty well. The sites all are w/out on-site W & E, but they are large and pretty private. They have generator and non-generator loops, which is nice. There are trails down to beautiful Lake Jackson, as well as into the village. The staff was helpful.

This is a nice park with large sites. The grounds were well kept and the staff friendly and helpful. There are walking trails and a good beach area. The restrooms were fine and cleaned daily. We would stay here again.

I am not a big KOA fan, but this park is far better than most KOA's. The sites are large and the grounds are very pretty and well cared for. Many of the sites front the river, with people fishing and kayaking all along the shore. The staff was efficient and the camp store was well stocked. We'll stay here again.

This park asks that campers make a donation for it's maintenance, with no set fee. Thus, the rate represents our donation. The best thing about it are its grounds. As part of the city park, there are flowers everywhere. Everything is mowed, weeded, and trimmed. A canopy of large trees provides shade. Very nice. Water is available, but not on-site. The restrooms were not as clean as they could be. There is a dump station.

This park is deceiving. When we first drove in, I thought "Oh, another parking lot." But after we were settled and started exploring, we learned that there are some really pretty, private, water-view and water-front sites here. So drive around all the loops before you make a selection. There is a great pool, with a nice view across the lawn to the boat traffic on the Colorado River. Also, there is a sandy swimming beach on the river, but the thing that really sold us on this park was the helpfulness and kindness of the staff. We had slide-out problems when we attempted to leave, which were eventually solved by one of the park staff members. He didn't have to help us but spent a good amount of time diagnosing the problem, as well as soliciting professional help from the community. Unlike other experiences we had in California RV parks, the staff at this one earned our respect. We would stay here again (even though it was 108 degrees when we arrived!).

This park is clean and basically well-kept, although there are some units in the back rows that are showing some serious age. The rest room and shower were clean; but, with only one shower and toilet for each gender, they were seriously inadequate for Memorial Day Weekend. The line-up (when all the families were visiting) was impressive and maddening. On-site Wi-Fi is advertised, but it doesn't exist. At least not for the back rows of the park. You can get a signal in the laundry room, where I spent a lot of time...and where a lot of other guests came by to see if one "really could" get Wi-Fi here. But the thing I liked least about this park was the unhelpfulness of the staff. When the Wi-Fi issue was raised with them, they basically blew us off. Then when I lugged my laptop and dirty clothes to the laundry room, only to come up 2 quarters short for the washers, and asked the staff if I could have quarters as change for the 5 dimes I had with me, they said it was "inconvenient" for them to accept dimes and I would need to come back with dollars instead. Excuse me....inconvenient??? Who is paying whom here! So, I lugged my lap top, laundry soap, dirty clothes, etc., back across the park to glean quarters from other sources. Business at this park must be very good; although I did note that it was far from full on Memorial Day Weekend. Gosh, I wonder why. We would not stay here again.

This is a very nice park. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the canopy of trees is great. There's a dog area, swimming pool, river view and access, and good camp store. There is noise from the freeway, however. Flocks of white pelicans swoop down over the river and there is a bucolic pasture with horses grazing on the other side of the fishing pond. It's a good place to relax.

This is basically an unlevel, gravel, parking lot with little else to offer. And an expensive one at that! When you add in the charges for our dog and Wi-Fi, the price adds up as indicated. What is really stupid here (and what everyone was talking about last night) is, even when the park is only one-half full, they insist that patrons all park in a very tight, side-by-side, row. After putting our slide out, there was no way we could extend the awning for shade. Even sitting out was unpleasant. Had I done so, I would have been on top of my neighbor's sewer hose. Why, when the park is half empty, the attendants couldn't assign every other site, is unclear to me! It speaks to a lack of commitment on the part of park personnel. Do any of you ever stay in RV parks??? I sometimes wonder. We would not stay here again.

We like this park. In fact, we extended our stay to 4 nights because of its quiet ambiance and the views. First, sites are full service, level, and easy to get into. But the best thing, as far as we are concerned, is the great front-and-back views of the bluffs/cliffs. It is really nice! Other parks in town have most of their pull-through sites going absolutely the wrong way, so you are looking into your neighbors windows and down the valley, rather than at the pretty bluffs. The bathrooms are plain, but spotless with large showers. The WiFi works very well throughout the park, among the best we've had in 1 month of travel. It is in reasonable driving distance of Monument Valley, Gooseneck, Valley of the Gods, and even the Natural Bridges. We would definitely stay here again.

We went into this park with reservations....and left loving it! I am so glad we stayed here. Several things made our stay enjoyable. The first is the people...both the staff running the place and the year-round residents. The staff was helpful, professional, and competent. The residents were friendly and welcoming to us. The park itself is spotless, with beautiful flowers everywhere. There is a nice, air conditioned, recreation room, open to overnight guests. And a great pool, with sun and shade and lounge chairs. We will stay here again when we are in the area....and Sequoia and Kings Canyon is very do-able from here. A good place.

We had stayed at a fairground in Indiana, which was a good experience. So we thought we'd try another one. Big mistake! I don't think the people who run this place really want RV campers. Here is our story. The good: in this area, $25 is a really cheap rate. The park offers reasonable access to Yosemite, and the town of Mariposa is cute and interesting. The bad: We were there Sunday p.m. through Friday a.m. The grime and dirt in the men's bathroom sink and showers that was there on Sunday was still there Friday a.m. when we left. These facilities were not touched during our 5 day stay. Disgusting! Then there is the issue of what campsites are really available. There are 5 camping areas. When we arrived, all but #4 were open. #s 1,2, and 3, are grass sites with a few trees. #5 is a dirt parking lot, with an ugly fence as a backdrop. We settled in #3, on the lawn, under a tree. The weekend attendant came to collect our fee and said nothing about the appropriateness of our site selection. He was very nice; we talked about what to see in Yosemite. On Monday, a sign appeared on the check-in bulletin board saying lot #3 was Closed (even though we had just checked in the day before). On Tuesday, a second sign appeared saying NO CAMPING ON THE GRASS. This was posted even though at least 3/4 of their sites are grassy; and in their description in Travel Life, they present themselves as "mostly grassy sites." We stayed put, and on Thursday a.m. the manager came by to ask "When will you be leaving?" When I said, "Tomorrow morning", his response was "Well, good!" Boy...didn't that make me feel welcome. What a credit he and this park are to Mariposa and California tourism! We would never stay here again. And then there is the issue of power outages and surges that we experienced here...but I won't go into that. In my opinion, this is a place to avoid.

I thought this was an excellent park. Big, well-placed, sites, many with water view or waterfront. It has boat launches, swimming beaches, hiking/biking trails, an archery range, camp store with friendly staff, etc. etc. A lot for a national/federal park. There are a number of seasonal sites, but we found them to be well-kept.

We stayed here in early April, when nothing else was open. Given the previous reviews on this site, it was not as bad as we expected. We had a large pull-through site and the grounds were generally well kept, but since it was snowing, it was hard to tell. Even though flakes were falling, there was a group of about 30 or so drinking and partying in front of the restrooms (heated, to their credit). The next morning, beer cans, cigar and cigarette butts littered the grounds outside of the restrooms. Except out of desperation, we are not certain we would stay here again.

This is a well cared for KOA with mostly level, pull-thru sites. It's right off of Interstate #40, but the traffic noise is not bad due to a long sound barrier. No train tracks nearby! There is a fenced off-leash play area for dogs that is large enough for some serious frisbee chasing (i.e., dog exercise). It's a KOA, so the sites are a little closer together than we like, but it's not bad. The park is spotless.

This is a large and pretty state park, with good sized sites and some privacy. Lots of trees. It is electric only, with a common water source. We spent Easter here and enjoyed it. There is a separate area for dog owners, which was good. The weather was cold, so we didn't hike; but lots of trails are evident. The restrooms in our loop were pit and not all that clean. Another camping loop has showers and modern restrooms. There is a 10% grade down to the park on the main entrance, so if steep hills are an issue for you, consider coming in the back way.

This is a really nice state park on a beautiful large lake. We were in section A, which has full service. The sites are well spaced and easy to back into. Lots of trees for shade and many sites with lake view. The sites were very level. The road in is a little bit of a challenge so be prepared for a climb and then rapid descent. Don't overheat your brakes on the way out. Basically, a good place to stay.

This park had the best/strongest WiFi we've ever had in camping. There are no restrooms or showers, but full service is provided. The park lacks visual appeal primarily because of a number of old (and not so well cared for) mobile homes, all along one side. The sites were level and easy to get into.

This place looks better from the highway than it does up close. Everyone was crammed on top of one another in a series of side-by-side sites. It rained while we were there and our site was flooded when we awoke. Another camper had his truck stuck in the mud as he tried to back in to one of the "higher" sites. WiFi did not work from our site or from the office area. I am not sure we'd go back again.

Very crowded RV park with people "packed-in" front-to-back and side-to-side. As such, it was noisy and very busy with people and cars coming and going. Kids everywhere! The staff was friendly and helpful. The drive-in movie can be seen from many sites.

This is a well maintained park in a beautiful setting. Some of the sites are oceanfront, while others offer a great ocean view. There is a good swimming and walking beach, as well as a terrific oceanside walk on a little-traveled gravel road. The sites are a little tight and many are side-by-side. But the views are wonderful, even of the surrounding countryside. We have stayed here twice and will return again.

We liked this park. I think it previously was a KOA but is now under new management. The grounds and restrooms were spotless. The park has good shade for Northern New Mexico and is appropriately named.....for Rose bushes were in bloom at almost every site. A very nice touch. The sites are quite large, both in terms of length and width, so you don't have that "stacked-in" feel that so many private parks offer. We certainly would stay here again.

We were here in mid-June and found this to be a pretty good park. The grounds and restrooms were well cared for and clean. There are a lot of seasonals here, but they were newer units with nice sites. The short-term sites are in an open field under the adjacent airport runway, which isn't great. Staff was good. We'd stay here again. The fenced dog exercise area is great! That alone will bring us back here.

This was an okay place....kind of interesting actually. We were here for warranty repairs on our new RV and spent 2 nights adjacent to the Sheep Barn. Except for the trains (which run and honk horns all night), the park was quiet. The grounds were well cared for and the restrooms are spotless. It was interesting to walk around the grounds and see all the potenial exhibits: there is a barn for every possible farm animal.

If you like the noise from large semi trucks, then this is the park for you. It is presented as .7 miles off Interstate #80......but I can almost feel the wind from the passing trucks as I write this, as well as see them clearly from our slide-out. We are inside the 5'er with the A/C on high and we can still hear the traffic noise. As long as you have a "white noise" alternative, this may be an okay place. But I worry what will happen tonight when the A/C goes off. The park is clean and green.

We stayed here in April 2007 and gave this place a good review. We returned in late June 2008 ....and what a difference! If you want a FAMILY campground (i.e., one where kids run absolutely wild until Quiet Hours at 11:00 p.m.) then this is the place for you. I have never heard so much human-generated noise in my life as I did at this place. Sleeping before mid-night is out of the question here. I am certain we are in a minority with this review. Families all around us seemed to be having a great time in the activities they pursued, with little regard for anyone else. We will not return here.

This is a really pretty park not too far off the Parkway. It reminded me of camping on a golf course, because the sites are large and the lawns extensive. Everything was lush and green. Very nice. The park was quiet and orderly, with both open and more wooded sites. It provides a nice respite from the stress of the NY Parkway.

We spent 3 nights here and basically liked the park. We did not find it to be noisy, but were here in late June before the height of the summer season. The place is spotless, both in terms of grounds and restrooms. We especially liked the Adults Only pool, where it was definitely possible to swim laps without kids doing cannonballs on top of you! This was a big plus for us. There is a pond and a nice platform on which to view sunsets across Lake Erie. We'd stay here again. This is a good place.

This is a pretty good park where we may stay again. We had a pull-thru on the back row which bordered a horse pasture. It was fun to watch the horses grazing, some of which were quite tame. The park was tidy and clean, with some fancy seasonal sites at the far end. The side-by-side pull-thrus are kind of close, but we've been in worse. There are two ponds, one of which is available for swimming. The check-in procedure was slow and inefficient (a long line of people waiting to check in while the office staff finished their lunch at 2:00 p.m.).

This is an ok place. The best part is the chickens and other fowl running all over the park. It was kind of like staying on a farm. The sites are narrow and really packed together. The staff was friendly and helpful. Although the temperature was 88 degrees, the pool was devoid of water and full of mud and leaves.

Having returned from 3 months on the road (i.e., Maine to Arizona/New Mexico and back), I would rate our experience at this park as the worst of our entire trip. Our mistake....asking for an end site (when 7 were available) rather than taking the one that the manager wanted to assign us!! I'm sorry, but this is an old KOA, where everyone is on top of everyone else.....and we like a little privacy. When we asked for an end site, the blond woman at the desk became very hostile, offering multiple reasons why we weren't "deserving" of such a space (i.e., at 42 feet we were "too small" to warrant an end site, or people who arrive after "closing hours" get the end sites). When my wife asked how many people arrived after "closing hours" last night or the night before, the answer was "well none." So we were about to drive on, when suddenly an end site was available; but only with great effort and hostility. Then we admitted that, yes, we had a dog (a 20 lb. Welsh Terrier....about as friendly and on-leash as you'll ever see). We then were subjected to a diatribe about what we were not allowed to do with our dog. Once in our site, we spent our time inside the trailer. I have seldom felt less welcome in a park. There are signs everywhere..."Do NOT walk here" "NO dogs in this area" "NO exterior mats", "Do NOT walk on the grass" etc., etc. We lived in the mid-west for 6 years (Iowa and Nebraska) and know that its people are very friendly, warm, caring, and helpful. This park does not exemplify those attributes, and, as such, is not a credit to Illinois or mid-western tourism. We would never stay here again. The restrooms were clean.

This is a really nice state park, in close proximity to Denver. We spent four nights and enjoyed our time here. The sites are large and easy to get into. Privacy is pretty good, although the trees are not really large. The biking and walking trails are extensive......and the park is clean and spotless. The park was quiet and orderly at night. All-in-all, a good place. We would return here again.

For the midwest, I thought this was a good park. It is nicely shaded with large trees and there are flower gardens throughout the park. Grounds were clean and neat, as were the restrooms. It is tight, however, and you have to be careful in making turns and watching for overhead limbs. People in a huge motorhome could not get into the site next to us and we (w/a 28 foot 5'er) could barely get into ours. Wi-Fi is a joke here. The only place I could get it was in the laundry room with the door to the Main Office open. I don't think they have any external aerials for Wi-Fi, although they claim there are 4 on each side of the building.

We stayed here twice in 2008 and found the park to be clean and well run. The owners are very nice and very helpful, which is what made us return. There is a good sized pool and an interesting video/game room (popular w/teenagers). The pull-thru sites by the highway are a little noisy and automobile lights at night shine in your RV. The sites down by the river are very nice and much quieter, with good shade and easy river access. The WiFi is fragile.

This park provided a welcome overnight after a very warm drive out of Denver. We had a nice shaded site towards the far side of the campground. The pool was clean, not filled with out-of-control kids, and not too warm. The manager came around and talked with everyone once they were settled, which was a nice touch. We'd stay here again. The restrooms are old but clean.

Excellent state park. We had a large site in the upper loop. Although there are fewer trees there, the afternoon/evening breeze is better than down below. And the view is outstanding....especially the night lights of Jerome across the wide valley. They have some good walking trails here, especially the equestrian one which offers more shade. The restrooms were spotless, as was the campground in general. The drive to Sedona is easy; and, quite frankly, Dead Horse offers more sanity and peace/quiet than what you'll find in the traffic jams there. We will stay here again. Don't miss the mining town of Jerome, which (in its entirety) is on the National Historic Register.

It's a KOA. What can I say? Small sites, packed together and very crowded. It's hard to negotiate the roads due to trees and large rocks (rocks oddly placed by staff to define sites). I hit one on the way in trying to turn into my site. On a positive note, the owners have tried to free up a little green space, with flowers and lawn-based sitting areas here-and-there. This is nice. The staff is friendly and helpful and they have a good camp store. There is some train and freeway noise, but it's not unbearable. Restrooms are clean.

We liked this park and would stay there again. All of the sites have fenced patio/sitting areas, which is great given the NM winds! The owners were very nice and helpful. There aren't a lot of trees, but it is southern NM. The private bathrooms w/shower were outstanding (and just like home...only cleaner!). The old farm equipment was interesting and somehow "right" for where we were. This is a nice park.

This park affords reasonable proximity to both Zion and Bryce, which is good. The staff was helpful and nice. The sites are very close together, so much so that we couldn't put out both our slide and our awning. There is a fenced pasture abutting the park where horses and donkeys feed. It was fun to watch them.

I have rated this park lower than I might have primarily because of the problems we had with their reservation system. We first called in early May asking for 5 nights immediately after after Memorial Day. We were told that Watchman was "fully booked", every site, for EVERY day between Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day. We accepted this at first, but then thought about what we were being told....and called again. This time, the reservation service admitted that there were "some" days during the summer when the park had vacancies, but that the two weeks after Memorial Day were "fully booked." So we made reservations at a private park in nearby Glendale and drove over to Watchman on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend and drove through the park. Little departure date slips were posted at each site.....and sure enough nearly everyone was leaving on Memorial Day or the day after. So we went on-line, confirming that many sites were indeed available during the week we wanted. So we called reservations again...BATTLED!!! our way through to a supervisor, who confirmed that there were sites available during our week and reserved one for us. Although asked, she could not explain why her staff basically lied to us on the two previous phone calls. In fact, the electric sites at the park were not full during our entire stay there. And this is how our tax dollars are being spent? And I say this as someone who made a major $$$$$ donation to the National Park System last February. The park is beautiful. And we had a great stay. Good luck with the reservation system...and don't placidly accept their "No-room-in-the-inn" scenario.

The grounds of this park are (given where it is) really quite pretty. And they have an interesting and informative nature walk through the desert. We were in one of the upper loops which afforded some view of the lake and backdrop of hills. This was nice. Restrooms were clean, as was the campground. Some of the loops closer to the lake had very small back-in sites, offering little privacy. The town itself has little to offer other than huge RV and boat storage areas. We stayed one night (although we planned to stay 3-4).

We loved this place! Don't be concerned about its proximity to Tucson, you definitely feel like you are in the wilderness/desert here. The view of the Catalina Mountains from most sites is outstanding. There are great walking trails, some very informative for people not from the Southwest. The sites are large and most in the A Loop are relatively private thanks to the Mesquite Trees (remember this is the desert). The park itself is spotless, as are the bathrooms. This is a good place to stay.

We spent 5 great nights at this park. The views from most sites are outstanding! You look across Abiquiu Lake towards Ghost Ranch, where Georgia O'Keeffe both lived and painted. It is one of the prettiest parks we have ever stayed in, with spectacular views of the cliffs and mountains. The color variations are almost unbelievable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The sites are well cared for and the bathrooms clean. We definitely would stay here again. It's a park for adults...no video games, silly golf courses etc. A good place.

Our experience at this campground was generally positive. Our site was level, graveled, with one tree (this is Arizona). The restrooms were clean and the place was quiet on Memorial Day Weekend (not a small feat). As others have experienced, they totally screwed up our reservation, claiming when we got there that the site we reserved as available, when indeed it was not. Once they drove us over in their golf cart to assure us that the site was free (when it wasn't), they quickly came up with an alternate site. This place does not have the view or ambiance of Waeweep, which is twice the price, but with gas at $4 per gallon, we couldn't afford the latter. And I should note that Page-Lake Powell was full all 3 nights we were there, while Waeweep was at best 1/3rd full for Memorial Day Weekend. This is not a bad place to stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it was an okay park, although a little overpriced. On the good side, the restrooms and shower were spotless. Absolutely spotless!! There is a nice clubhouse area and patio with couches, chairs, tables, free videos, etc. The park is about 1 mile off the freeway, so traffic noise is not an issue. And the sunsets over the mountains are beautiful, as are the lights of the city below. The sites themselves lack luster....lots of weeds, minimal trees, some not-so-nice seasonal (read year-round) residents, ugly gravel, etc. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I guess we'd stay here again.

The name is appropriate for this park because I can't imagine anyone staying for a 2nd night. The park was tidy and neat. The restrooms were spotless; but the noise from the freeway and arterial that flank this place was very bad. This was compounded by the 30 or so jets that land and take off right over your RV from the military base that is right across the freeway. Then there are the trains that pass nearby .......you get the idea. Not a place for a restful night's sleep.

This park was spotless, both in terms of grounds and restrooms. The staff was friendly and helpful. The park was about half empty while we were there, but sites are very close together and back-to-back. If you seek privacy, then this is not the place for you. It must be really "jumping" in mid-summer when full.

Gosh. I am a little surprised by the really negative reviews of this park. Maybe it is because we have just driven across the country and seen the really deplorable state of some parks; but we found the Santa Rosa park to be pretty good. We had a pretty site high on the hill above the lake (which, yes, was low.....but we thought the exposed red soil added a nice contrast to the blue waters). The restrooms were cleaned while we were there and the showers were fine. We biked the paved roads and walked the trails. Electric worked fine and we filled our tank with water upon arrival. It was a nice quiet, low key, place. And we'd stay there again. The grounds were not mowed to perfection, but, if we had wanted that, we'd have stayed at home in the suburbs.

This is a nice park in proximity to Boston. The sites are, for the most part, very large and private. The park is wooded with great walking and biking trails. The restrooms and showers are old and marginally clean. It is about 10-15 minutes from the T line at Braintree, that affords good access into the city. It was quiet and peaceful while we were there.

This is a rustic campground in a beautiful setting. It's more than a little outdated in terms of site size, restrooms, etc. The park looks like, at one time, it had a lot of care......but that is no longer true. Too bad. The river is beautiful. The road in is awful and dangerous. Maine should do better than this.

We actually stayed here in August 2006, and it was a good experience. The park is clean and pretty, with an excellent beach for walking. We had a pull-thru site that looked out over a salt marsh (very pretty), and it had both water and electric. Cavendish is a little too commercial for our tastes, but the park is centrally located and provides reasonable access to both sides of the Island. We would stay here again.

Why did we ever stay here!!! This place is a disgrace to Maine (and I live in the state). The price is outrageous for the location (not even on Mt. Dessert/Acadia Island). The sites are crowded and almost devoid of trees or vegetation, with some on a very busy highway. The really sad thing was the people running the place, who were rude and insulting. I apologize to all "out-of-state" people who may end up here...this is not the true Maine. Look elsewhere for a park.

This park is amazing, at least for dog owners. After 6 weeks on the road, our Welsh Terrier has finally had a good place to exercise! It's great...separate off-leash areas for big versus small dogs, a swimming pond for dogs, several agility areas. I wish there were more parks like this. And it is quiet, primarily because it is not filled with noisy, screaming, fighting children and teenagers (as we have had too much of already on this trip). The restrooms and are indeed spotless (and filled with original dog related art). Thumbs up to Four Paws and the people who run it.

This is a "so-so" park in my opinion, somewhat overpriced for the amenities that are important to me. There is a large pool, and a game room for teenagers, which I guess is good. Most of the sites are seasonal and the short-term spaces are dark and crowded. The restrooms are very clean, as are the showers. WiFi is an extra $5 per night and the cable offerings were minimal. It's a mile + walk (w/o sidewalks or shoulder) to the battlefields.

I am not a big KOA fan, but I must say that this KOA is one of the best we've ever stayed in....all up-and-down the Eastern seaboard. The park is spotless, both in terms of sites and restrooms. The staff is friendly and helpful and the free morning paper was really nice. The entrance road is a little tricky and confusing as we had to back out of a neighbor's driveway, but the sites are large and easy to access. Canaan is sort of in the middle of the state, so we spent a day exploring the western mountains in Kingfield and Carrabassett Valley. Very pretty and remote! And about 45 minutes from the park. You are about 1 hour from the coast here, which is great.

It's too bad. To see our National Parks fall into this sad state. This park has so much potential, but is so badly outdated that it was almost completely vacant during the 4 days we were there. Nearly half of the sites are closed, apparently because no one uses them. Picnic tables are covered with moss and rotting. All the sites are small, and not well maintained. The rest rooms were not cleaned once during our four nights there. There are no showers, no electricity, minimal ranger programs, excellent hiking, a pretty lake, but a very unpleasant and unhelpful camp host. Perhaps he likes the park to himself, which he is getting, and our tax $$$$$ are going for this??? It's sad to see.

We spent a week here and found this to be a pretty good park, primarily because of its location to other amenities. It's right on the bike paths that lead you all over the island. It's across the street from the salt marsh, which affords beautiful sunsets. This is all good. The sites are small and close together, allowing for little privacy. Even when the park is only 1/4th full, they put all campers in the same row.......one on top of another. Stupid management ! Although they advertise WiFi, NO ONE could get it to work during our week there (including the staff). The rest rooms are clean.

This best thing about this park is its proximity to Detroit, which is only about 20-30 minutes away. The sites are level and the walk around the lake is nice. Neither the showers nor the restrooms were cleaned during the week we were there. The staff was helpful. It rained nearly every day and the campground turned to a sea of mud. Gravel is needed in a number of key places.

Someone else said it..."Pick your site wisely, here!!" Nearly all the sites are seasonal and they dump the temporary people in some pretty awful sites. We had a pull-thru with gravel roads on two sides: one from the park and the other a county road (where the "good-ole-boys" roared up and down all night with their radios blaring!). This is NOT what I was driving the Parkway to experience and I felt like I had just pulled off to the side of the road to park for the night! It was hot, so we were able to run the A/C; but that's about the only good thing I'd say about this place.

This park was a pleasant surprise to us. Very clean grounds, and nice wooded sites that were fairly private and large (or a more open grassy area). The restrooms were spotless and the staff was helpful. The weather was awful, yet the place was full on a mid-week night in early May. Early arrival is warranted since they do not take reservations. We would stay here again.

We stayed here on our way south from Michigan. We found this to be a scary place - lots of locals staying in not-so-nice RVs. The group next to us were definitely "on" something, once they came in from work (or watever). The restrooms here are about the worst we've ever encountered in 7 years of RV travel. We locked all doors, went to bed, and pulled out very early in the morning. We would never stay here again.

This park is located in a busy suburban area, with lots of traffic swirling around it. Our site was level and easy to get into. We were here early in the spring when few people were camping, so it wasn't crowded. The sites are not that wide, however, so I suspect the place could be noisy when full. The restrooms were spotless. Although there are trees, the park has a rather "open" feel, affording little privacy.

This is one of our standard "stop-over" parks on our way to and from Nova Scotia or P.E.I. It has always been clean and well run. It's busy on the weekends, so call ahead for reservations. As someone else has noted, it is full of kids; but we have never found them to be out-of-control here, as you see in some parks. The owners are friendly and help you to your site. The camp store closes the day after Labor Day, so shop for groceries elsewhere if you arrive after this date.

Campobello Island, although in New Brunswick, is reached by bridge via Maine. It is situated at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy, with some impressive tidal whirlpools off one shore. The RV park is well run and nicely laid out. There are both open and shaded sites. The grounds are well maintained and the campground abuts a picnic area on the shore. There is an easy walk to a long, cobble-stone beach, as well as a series of day hikes out of the park itself. Herring Cove comes with it's own 9-hole golf course, which is usually devoid of people (a great place for golfers like us to play!). Some of the holes have spectacular views of the Bay. The island itself is very low key (no water slides or McD.s in this place!) with good bike riding on the little-traveled roads. Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt's summer home is on the island and is open to the public in the summer and fall. It's a very interesting tour and provides a good look back in time. There is one small grocery store on the island, so stock up in Machias before you cross the bridge.

This is a great Canadian National Park. We stayed at Headquarters, which is down on the water and where it is easy to watch the phenomenal tide changes each day. There are some nice hikes out of Headquarters that take you along the cliffs above the Bay of Fundy. The park also has well maintained grounds, with beautiful annual beds scattered about (very Canadian!). There is a cute little town adjacent to the park with craft shops and places to eat. Alma is in the English speaking part of NB, which helps. The pool was $$$ and full of kids. Don't plan to swim laps. We had a nice stay here.

This is a wonderful park on wonderful Cape Breton Island. We stayed for 5 days in a level, large, and private site. The park itself is spotless. A short and easy trail takes you from the campground to a beautiful, red-sand, beach that is very private and with few people on it. It's lovely and great for walking. The park staff was informed, polite, and helpful.....finding a replacement tire for our trailer in a very remote area of Nova Scotia. These Canadians know how to run a park! If you visit here, don't miss the walk out to the small cemetary for sailors lost at sea off of nearby White Point. Cape North and Cabot Bay are to your left and both are spectacular! It's a very special place. There is also a great walking beach at Cabot's Landing.

This is a pretty National Park situated on both a river/bay and the Strait of Northumberland. There is good kayaking here and a great (and long) sand beach on the Strait for walking. We also swam here in late August and the water was fine (in terms of temperature). The grounds are very well kept and quite pretty. Some sites are open....others are wooded. Insects were not a problem in late summer. I have to say, however, that this park offered one of the few experiences we have had in Canada where I did not feel welcome by either the staff or my fellow campers. This is the French speaking sector of NB and we found it difficult to elicit even a "bonjour" (heaven forbid a "good morning") from others. The staff does speak English and will do so, if asked; but I felt like they would just as soon that people from the U.S. stayed elsewhere. I am not certain I would ever go back here even given the outstanding beach and the great kayaking.

This park was okay, although not outstanding. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which was nice. The sites are really quite small and packed together, offering little privacy. Fortunately, the park was only half full when we were there. Traffic noise is a problem. There is hiking out of the park and a small swimming beach that one walks to. Biking is tough here because the trails are rough and the climb up from the highway is steep. Inger's in nearby Clayton is a great place for lunch.

This is a wonderful RV park. The sites are large, level, and relatively private. The grounds are immaculate. The shuttle service to the beach and into Charleston is very convenient. There are bike trails, walking trails, and a large swimming pool (with a separate area for children). What we liked most, however, is the huge exercise area for dogs. After sleeping in the back seat on our drive down from Maine each spring, our Welsh Terrier is more than ready for some serious, off-leash, running and frisbee chasing. This is the only park we've seen with an area like this for pets and it's a very nice feature. The dogs get along surprisingly well and all seem glad to just run! The pet area is well removed from the RV sites, so noise is not a problem.

This is a great stop-over park which we use on our way to and from South Carolina each spring. It is convenient to Boston and not far off of 495. The park is heavily wooded and quite pretty. There is a great area to exercise your dog at the far end of the park. The restrooms are always spotless and heated (which is no small matter for New England in April/May).

There are many good things about this park. The ranger programs here are outstanding! We've done 8-10 of them on a variety of topics...and have learned a lot. Hiking out of this park is also excellent, with well marked and well maintained trails. The meadow itself is fantastic....huge and diverse. The best time to go is at dusk, when one can see a multitude of deer (w/fawns) feeding in a natural context (i.e., not begging for food in a campground). It's really something to see. The campsites themselves are fairly large. Some afford good views off the Skyline Drive. My major objection involves the park's generator policy, which allows generators to run from 8-10:00 a.m. and 4:00-6:00 p.m. every day. The noise during these hours is unbelievable! In fact, many people just turn their generators on and then leave the park, allowing them to run full-throttle for 2 hours at a stretch. Don't plan to sit outside during these hours.

We have stayed in this park several times, usually as a one-night stopover. We've found it to be quiet and pretty well run, although we have always been there mid-week and the park has been far from full. There is a large field in back of the park where one can exercise your dog. The pool looks nice, although we have never used it. We found it to be an okay place.

We've stayed in this park three years in a row on our way south. It's a nice place, with water view sites on the river/bay and easy access to a long sand beach. Each time we've stayed, the park has been very clean and well run. The sites are level and full-serviced. It's fun to watch the fishermen, both in boats on the river and along the shore. There is good walking on paved trails, as well as the beach....and there is a bike lane on the highway that leads you into Bethany Beach (nice little beachside community) and beyond. The showers are clean, but have an odd control system to keep water flowing...they are free. We like this place and will stay there again.

We liked this park. Our site was huge....perhaps the largest we've ever had. Very private and nice. The trees are very large and dripping with moss. The place was quiet and well run....no out-of-control kids, etc. The staff was helpful and informed....and the drive in to Savannah is easy. Finding the park from the Interstate is a challenge...you definitely need a co-pilot with good eyes for the small highway signs that direct you. We certainly would stay here again, if ever in Savannah. Restrooms were clean.

This is one of our favorite parks. We've stayed there twice and are returning next May for a 3rd time. We like the sites that face the marsh, affording great sunsets and an ever-changing "cast" of birds. The beach is good for walking and swimming. There is a series of bike trails that criss-cross the island, which makes for good riding. There is a Ranger Program that we found both interesting and informative.

This park is a good one. The sites closer to the water are the best, offering ocean views, breezes, and fewer insects. Our first year here we stayed near the back of the park on a stream. Big mistake! The bugs were awful! At low tide, the beach is great for walking....also good for biking. There are two nice naturalist centers and a resident alligator (maybe more than one) living in the swamp. We have reservations again this year.

We've stayed here twice, primarily because of the park's proximity to Assateague Island. It is an easy bike ride from Maddock's to the National Park on Assateague, which is beautiful. I can't say as much for the RV park. The bath houses are very old and not that clean, as well as inadequate to handle a full park. Over Memorial Day, I stood in line for 30+ minutes waiting to get a stall. There are a number of year-round trailers in the park, some of which are not very attractive. The park is situated on a beautiful salt marsh, but, oddly, the front row sites for RVs REQUIRE that you park with your back to the marsh. We selected an end-of-row site that we backed into so that we could see the marsh from our trailer and while under our awning. After getting set up, the staff came roaring over and made us turn the trailer around, so that our view was of the old, rusting, in-park trailers. Why anyone would lay out a park this way....or enforce such a rule...is entirely unclear to us. I think we have stayed at Maddock's for the last time.

This park is conveniently located off Highway #209, which is a short-cut for New Englanders heading south. The pull thru sites are level and the park is quiet. Given all this, it is doubtful that we will return there again. Our complaints about this facility stem from the attitude of the staff and their pet policy. Both times we stayed (the 2nd time out of desperation), we were greeted by staff member lecturing us on the inappropriateness of trying to stay "without a prior reservation." This was an interesting attitude given that all three nights we were there, the park was no more than half full. Our second problem was based in their pet policy: namely, that dogs cannot be walked on-leash around the park, unless going-to (or coming-from) one's site and the "pet exercise area".....which I have indicated on the Forum is about the size of a large bread box. I was admonished for walking our 18 lb. Welsh Terrier (on-leash and with dog bag in hand) around the corner from our site rather than heading directly for the bread-box. How a fenced square that is not more than 6' X 6' constitutes an "exercise area" eludes me.

This is another really nice Canadian Park. The outstanding feature is the beach, which is white sand and great for walking. The camping area abuts a pretty picnic area that looks down on the beach (a great place for lunch). The sites are large, well vegetated, and private. Potable water is available to fill your tank, since the sites have electric only. The restrooms and showers are spotless and new. The park is quiet and well-run, but a little remote; so shop for groceries either in St. Johns or Calais/St. Stephens.

This was an okay park that is fairly close to Baddeck. It is somewhat hilly and leveling was a problem on our site, but not impossible. The sites are fairly large, but (even though the it has trees) the park has an "open" feel to it. You can walk down to the bay from the park, but the sites are far from the water. The restrooms were clean, as was the park itself. Somehow, it lacked visual appeal, but I guess that is a really subjective judgment....it's just that so much of Cape Breton Island is SO beautiful, that I was a little disapointed in these surroundings. It's an okay, but not outstanding, place to stay.

Seabreeze is beautifully situated on the banks of Chedabuckto Bay. Nearly all the sites have great views of the water and ours was ocean front. There is a great island directly out from the sites which makes for great wave action when the wind is right. The view is to die for! Schools of pilot whales are also common. The restrooms were were clean, but quite old. The park is treed with grassy sites. The paved highway from Guysborough to Seabreeze is, like many secondary roads in NS, rough in places. This is a quiet campground with a very special beauty.

This is one of our favorite parks on P.E.I. You have 2 choices of sites: ones that front the beach (i.e., great for families) or ones that are high on the hill and afford a wonderful view of the Northumberland Strait. We choose the latter and loved the place!! There is a great sand beach that is perfect for swimming and walking (and, yes, the water really is warm enough for swimming). The restrooms are old, but clean and well maintained. The staff was helpful and friendly. Don't miss the Greenwich Dunes if you stay here. They are about 15 minutes away (by car) and are worth the walk in. Also, there is a great beach at the Dunes. Red Point is a good place.

This is a truly awful campground. Although they advertise 30 amp service, those 30 amps are "shared" with the RV parked next to you. Don't plan to run AC in this place. On top of that, (a) the water supply failed while we were there, leaving everyone w/out water except for what was in their tanks, and (b) the sewer system backed up so that toliets could not be flushed in the rest rooms (which are very old and not very clean). When we complained about the service, we were told to leave. So much for Canadian hospitality!! This is a place to avoid at all costs.

This is truly one of the worst parks in which we have ever stayed. It was full of out-of-control kids (and some parents) roaring around on bikes and big-wheels. The family next to us continually ran their gray water out onto the ground and onto our site....and when we complained (3 times) to the staff, nothing was done. The smell was awful. Dogs were running loose both night and day, coming over to fight with our dog (which was leashed). We had one of the most expensive, river front, sites in the place; but when we got there we learned that you couldn't even see the river from the RV because of a large mound. This is a place to avoid.

The people running this park have an interesting management style. The nights we were there, the park was only about one-third filled. And everyone was all crammed together in side-by-side sites, stacked in together like a cord of wood. When we asked if we couldn't have one of the 60 or so sites that were unoccupied in other areas of the park, we were told we had to take the site assigned to us. Then there is the swimming pool, which is nice enough, except that it is used by many people in the community that are not staying in the park. Thus, it was filled to overflowing with kids doing canonballs into the water. Not a place for an adult to even swim one lap.

This is a quiet and peaceful park, with deer wandering all about. We had a site on the edge of a high cliff, with a view out over the valley far below. Very nice. Our site was situated right on the AT, so hiking is possible right out of your door. Pay showers and a camp store are available, but no electricity. The generators were loud at times and run far too long by fellow campers. The sites are large and pretty private.

This is a pretty park with a nice pool and golf course. We had a lake front site, in a wooded area with privacy. Many of the sites are quite unlevel, requiring a fair amount of blocking. Watch out for ants here, however. We woke up in the morning with hoards of them marching up the interior walls of the trailer. It was unbelievable....and they stayed with us ALL the way home to Maine. Fortunately, the New England winter did them in. The park staff came out and sprayed our site, but once they got in the trailer it was too late.

We spent a night here on our way south. The park is very clean and well kept. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the camp store is good. There is a nice pool and a trail down to the water. Although level, the sites are a little tight...not a lot of privacy. Overall, a pretty good place where we'd stay again.
